News Analysis (Fake & Real)

News analysis refers to the measurement of the various qualitative and quantitative attributes of textual news stories. News analysis is the process of gathering, analyzing, classifying and interpreting news data using sophisticated methodologies, tools and techniques. Analysts extract insights, signals, trends, relationships, sentiment and alerts from a corpus of a structured and unstructured news content using big data analysis, artificial intelligence, machine learning and natural language processing.

When we discussing what are the Fake news and Real News🚫

Analysis the Fake News.

Fake News is False or misleading information presented as news. Generally, fake news falls into two categories.
 1. Deliberately inaccurate stories, that is the people publishing them know them to be false but publish them anyway. This might be to manipulate public opinion or to drive traffic to a specific website.

2. Stories that contain elements of truth but are broadly inaccurate. This might be because the writer hasn't checked all their facts or has certain aspects to make a particular point.
However, Fake news divided various types,
  • Clickbait
  • Propaganda
  • Poor quality journalism
  • Misleading headlines
  • Imposter content.
As of today social media is main distributer in fake news. Example for Fake News-:

  • Indian Government denies helping the Rajapaksa's flee.

As the Aragalaya time, the Indian government denied reports that it helped Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and former finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa flee the country.
President Rajapaksa fled to the Maldives on Wednesday. On Thursday, he, his wife, and personal Body Guards left the Maldives for Singapore.

The Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka described the reports of the Indian government helping the Rajapaksa's flee as ''baseless and speculative".
This is not the first time the Indian government has issued a statement to deny helping Sri Lankan politicians flee. In May, the day after then Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa resigned, the Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka denied reports that "certain political persons and their families" have fled to India.
On Sunday, the Indian government also denied reports that it sent troops to Sri Lanka. The same statement was issued by the Indian government in May as well. there were also rumours about India supplying a water cannon vehicle to Sri Lanka which India denied.

  • No, protesters did not 'take over' Sri Lanka's national broadcaster
On Wednesday, major global media outlets mistakenly reported that Sri Lanka's national broadcaster Rupavahini was taken over by protesters.
Some social media posts wrongly suggested that protesters had taken over anchoring duties for the national broadcaster.
The BBC reached out to directors at Rupavahini to understand what happened at their premises on Wednesday.

According to Rupavahini's Assistant Director and Head of foreign News Prasad Kaushalya Dodangodage, the protesters arrived at the premises uninvited on Wednesday afternoon with a list of demands. After a discussion with directors at the national broadcaster, they were provided an interview slot.
During the interview one of the protesters made a misleading claim in Sinhala that Rupavahini will only broadcast Programmes of the Jana Aragalaya, or the protesters movement against the government.

Rupavahini does not subscribe to this, Mr Prasad told the BBC. The protesters left the premises after being granted 15 minutes of airtime. While broadcasts were briefly suspended, they later resumed, and the broadcaster returned to routine programming.

By then, the misleading claim that protesters ''took over'' Sri Lanka's national broadcaster had been widely shared on social media by verified handles and by major news outlets, including some with millions of followers.

Analysis the Real News

Real News is information or report about something that has happened recently meant to inform the reader/viewer from a reliable authoritative source. Real news is objective and unbiased information that is factually based from credible sources.

Examples for Real News-:

  • Poll card collection period announced

Those who have not received their poll cards can collect them from the nearest post office between 18 and 21 September, according to Post Master General Ruwan Sathkumara.

Over 80% of cards have been distributed, though distribution stopped on 14 September.

The Election Commission (EC) Chairman R.M.A.L. Ratnayake reassured voters that the national identity card is the key document.

If the name on the poll card differs, voters can use a Grama Niladari certification to confirm their identity.

  • Grade 5 scholarship exam results to be released in 40 days.

The Commissioner General of Examinations, Amith Jayasundara, announced that the results of the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination, held yesterday(15).
Accordingly the results will be released in 40 days.
This year, 323,879 students participated across 2849 centers.

However, Fake News is more like patter, while real news would be more like a prop. both of them can be used at the same time, in the same trick.
for the fake news, the story, we can just more or less make up anything you want. it can be almost entirely unrelated to what is going on, but it does need to keep people's attention.
The real news, the physical prop itself, is very real, and can be passed around to be examined by the audience. Everyone should be instructed to never take their eyes off it.
