What is Photograph,

             A Photograph is an image created by light falling on a photosensitive surface, usually photographic film or an electronic image sensor, such as CCD or a CMOS chip. Most photographs are now created using a smartphone or camera, which uses a lens to focus the scenes visible wavelengths of light into a reproduction of what the human eye would see. The process and practice of creating such images is called Photography.

Now we look some Photographs and Described that photos.

    1. Ambuluwawa Tower


                                  This Photo is Ambuluwawa Tower. I went to the see Ambuluwawa Tower with my Friends on Last Monday. It is located in the suburbs of Gampola Town in Sri Lanka. There has been an increased  popularity in recent times especially due to the breathtaking views we can experience when we climb to the top of the Ambuluwawa Tower. it is also known for its narrow spiral staircase which some visitors find challenging to climb. it is one of the coolest places to visit in Sri Lanka if we are up for the challenge.

The 48 meters tall, cone shaped tower houses the Stupa(Pagoda) of the Buddhist Temple. As we climb up, it has several viewing platforms for enjoy the stunning views. The staircase gets narrower as go up. The spiral staircase will be a challenging one to climb if we are not comfortable with heights.

2. Sembuwaththa Lake



                          After that we went to the see Sembuwaththa Lake. it is a beautiful attraction point located within the village of Elkaduwa in Matale district of Sri Lanka. A quit and ravishing human made up of natural spring water, Sembuwaththa Lake is adjacent to the Campbell's lane Forest Reserve.
Sembuwaththa Lake also has a natural swimming pool by its side. The lake processes  electricity for the many villages in the area making it a lifeline for the locals as well as a pleasing addition to the long list of attractions within Sri Lanka. The Sembuwaththa Lake has beautiful pine trees, situated on top of the mountain and it is an epitome of majestic experience, which is a well known spot for picnics, hiking, and nature trails. Sembuwaththa Lake is around 30 to 39 feet deep.


3. Randenigala Dam


                This photo is Randenigala Dam. it is one of Sri Lanka's largest reservoirs fed by the Mahaweli River. A large hydroelectric dam in the central province of Sri Lanka opened in the year 1986. Standing tall at an impenetrable height of 94m high and 485m in length it is an awe inspiring structure. The surface area of the reservoir is 1350 hectare. The man made lake is picturesquely located and spotted with small islands bordered on its northern shores by a National Park.

4.The Raja Maha Viharaya Mahiyangana.


                   Mahiyangana Raja Maha Vihara is an ancient Buddhist temple in Mahiyangana, Sri Lanka. it is believed to be the site of Gautama Buddha's First visit to the country, and is one of the Solosmasthana the 16 sacred religious locations in Sri Lanka. .

According to legend prince Saman of the Deva tribe requested the Buddha for a token of presences that could be held high in reverence. thus he was granted a curl of hair from the Buddhas head. The Prince enshrined the hair relic in the ancient Mahiyangana Stupa. Thus Mahiyangana Become the first ever Stupa to be built in Sri Lanka. The temple of Mahiyangana is a must visit as it boasts of a rich religious and cultural heritage and we can be a part of the rituals and practices carried out by the folk of the surrounding villages.



5. Marble Beach



                           In Campus free time me and my friends some times went to the Marble Beach. Sri Lanka is blessed with a great many beautiful beaches. in fact, the islands pristine coastline is one of the main reasons thousands of tourists flock to the island each year. The eastern coast of Sri Lanka is particularly renowned for stunning coastal locations, and few can surpass the picturesque scenery of the aptly named Marble Beach.
Marble Beach is found along the Kinniya Road, around 11 Kilometres away from Trincomalee. We can find it boarded by a beautiful cove that's fringed on one side by a verdant stretch of woodlands. The beach got its name due to the crystal clear waters that lap away at it. it is said that on a sunny day, the waters surface can be seen shinning brilliantly as thought it had been fashioned out of marble.

6. Dimbulagala Raja maha Viharaya





              About 12 miles to the east of the ancient kingdom Polonnaruwa on the east side of the Mahaweli is situated at the beautiful hilly range Dimbulagala. in our ancient pali texts this range is referred to as Udumbara girl. Udumbara is a name for wood apples, and girl means hills/mountain. Dimbulagala was also known as Dola Pabbatha.
This area was once known as a Kingdom of the Vakshas, then the Kingdom of prince clever in war, then a sacred area, and a MahaViharaya an adobe of so many sacred beings. with the fall of the Polonnaruwa Kingdom this was covered by thick forests devoid of its settlers. but its up again as an acclaimed abode of many of our monks and trainee monks, who'd be our future preachers of the Buddhas doctrine or his Buddhas disciples.

7. Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya




                         This picture I got in Anuradhapura, Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi tree is a historical sacred bo tree in the Mahamwunawa Garden in historical city of Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. This is believed to be a tree grown from a cutting of the southern branch from the historical sacred bo tree, Sri Maha Bodhi which was destroyed during the time of Emperor Ashoka the great at Buddha Gaya in India under which Siddhartha Gautama(Buddha) attained Enlightenment. At more than 2300 years old it is the oldest living human planted tree in the world with a known planting date, The Mahavamsa or the great chronicle of the Sinhalese, provides an elaborate account of the establishment of the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi on the island and the subsequent development of the site as a major Buddhist pilgrimage site.

8. Riverston




             Riverston offers of the most amazing views in all of Sri Lanka. we can gaze upon the landscapes covered in cloaks of mist, blue green mountain peaks reaching for the sky, and dense forests that stretch as far the eye can see.
The beauty is ethereal capturing the essence of nature in its purest form. Riverston is also great place for hiking and camping and is quickly gaining popularity among travelers.
Riverston is still relatively unknown to the broader tourist community, making it a perfect destination for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle. The trails are never crowded giving us the luxury of solitude.

Riverston is a hiker's paradise with trails suitable for anyone, from beginners to experts. for those looking for a moderate hike, the path to Riverston peak is well marked and can be completed in afew hours.

9. Pinnawala




                    Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is a captive breeding and conservation institute for wild Asian elephants located at Pinnawala village, 13km northeast of Kegalle town in Sabaragamuwa province of Sri Lanka. Pinnawala has the largest herd of captive elephants in the world. in 2023 there were 71 elephants, including 30 males and 41 females from 3 generations, living in Pinnawala. 
The orphanage was founded to care and protect the many orphaned unweaned wild elephants found wandering in and near the forests of Sri Lanka. it was established in 1975 by the Sri Lanka Department of wildlife conservation.

On 31 August 2021, a 25 year old elephant named Surangi gave birth to twin male baby elephants at the orphanage. it also marked the first instance of the birth of twin elephants in Sri Lanka after a gap of 80 years since 1941.

10. Hakgala Botanical Gardens



                           Hakgala Botanical garden is the second largest garden among the five botanical gardens in Sri Lanka and is contiguous to Hakgala strict nature Reserve, which is the home to a variety of wild life, including bears, monkeys and birds. Situated some 5 kilometers South of Nuwara Eliya, the road to Hakgala along the Badulla road is a pleasant downhill drive, mostly through pine forests. The comfortable cool weather that prevails throughout the year compliments the exotic flora and fauna, crating a true paradise. it boasts thousands of flora species.
